Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

PROVIDENCE — The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be visiting several parishes in the Diocese of Providence from now until February 4, 2019. All are invited to attend the various Masses, Holy Hours, presentations and veneration opportunities at the parishes that are participating in the special and prayerful events. Rosary for Life at St. Pius V

PROVIDENCE — On Friday, January 18, the day of the Annual March for Life, St. Pius V Parish in Providence will spiritually support the March by praying together the Rosary. Father James Sullivan, OP, and Father Patrick Briscoe, OP, will preach reflections at the beginning of each mystery. The Rosary begins at 7 p.m. in the Church.

Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick within Mass to be celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church

PROVIDENCE — The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick within Mass will be offered at St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Ave., on Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. by Father Joseph Pranzo, Parochial Vicar of St. Bartholomew Parish. Anyone whose health is seriously threatened by sickness or old age may receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This Mass will be offered every third Saturday every other month. St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group to meet

Bristol Knights to host community blood drive

WARREN — Bristol Knights of Columbus Council 379 will sponsor a community blood drive on Thursday, January 24 at Saint Mary’s of the Bay in Warren from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. The drive is open to everyone. Refreshments will be served.

St. Mary Academy - Bay View to host information night and Lower School Open House

RIVERSIDE — St. Mary Academy - Bay View will hold an Upper and Middle School Information Night on Thursday, January 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. for prospective families interested in grades 6-12. Topics of discussion will include academic programs, course offerings, tuition, financial aid, and more. In addition, Bay View will host a Lower School Open House on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. - noon for prospective families interested in preschool through grade 5. Woodlawn Catholic Regional School to host Open House

PAWTUCKET — Woodlawn Catholic Regional School will be holding its Open House on Sunday, January 27, from 1-3 p.m. After the student-led tour, talk with parents and alumni about their experiences and register for the 2019-2020 school year. Science Sunday Funday at Mercymount Country Day School

CUMBERLAND — Mercymount Country Day School will host Science Sunday Funday, free and open to the public, on Sunday, January 27, 1 – 4 p.m., As part of Catholic Schools’ Week and celebrating the 70th birthday of Mercymount, all are invited to attend the day of activities, experiments and fun with science. Mad Science of Southern M.A. and R.I. will be presenting their exciting “FIRE & ICE” show. Hands on animal time will be provided by Dave Marchetti’s Animal Experiences and Bwana Iguana Reptile Adventure will showcase their reptiles. Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support program to begin

COVENTRY — The Diocese of Providence, Office of Life and Family, will offer a special Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support program for the loss of a spouse at Saints John and Paul Church (rectory building, lower level), 341 South Main St., on Thursday evenings 6:30 - 8 p.m., February 7 - March 28, 2019. This support group provides a peaceful environment for people to heal and to share their thoughts and feelings about their loss with the spiritual comfort of our Catholic faith. There will also be a variety of discussion topics about grief. The group is most appropriate for adults at least three months beyond their loss. There is no cost to attend. Amos House volunteer tax preparers needed

PROVIDENCE — Amos House is a leading social services agency in South Providence founded by Sister Eileen Murphy in 1976. It prepares free tax returns for income-qualified individuals and families from the beginning of February through mid-April. Please consider donating five hours of your time each week to serve as a tax preparer or greeter. Participants receive IRS training and certification.
