'Sleep Out' raises awareness for needs of homeless

Posted

Five Prout students recently participated in a Sleep-Out to raise awareness of the homeless. Students completed intake forms as if they were entering a homeless shelter, heard from a speaker that explained the issue of affordable housing, attended Mass and assembled personal care packages to donate to area shelters. They also donated money to contribute to the Bishop Thomas J. Tobin’s “Keep the Heat On” fund. Students and their chaperones/Campus Ministers then headed outside in the cold to spend the night. As one student said, “One night outside was tough; I cannot imagine having to do that every night.”
