Sister Silveria M. Sullivan, 88

CUMBERLAND — Sister of Mercy Silveria M. Sullivan, 88, a retired educator and administrator, died April 25 at Mount St. Rita Health Centre.

Born Margaret Sullivan in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Michael F. and Lucy C. (Palmer) Sullivan. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1939 and professed her vows on August 16, 1945.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in education from the former Catholic Teachers College in Providence and master of arts degree from Boston College. During her educational ministry, she served as principal of the former St. Mary School, Fall River, MA from 1954-65; the former St. Joseph School, Fall River from 1965-68, and St. Mary Academy-Bay View Elementary School from 1968-70. Sister Sullivan continued at Bay View as a teacher from 1970 - 92, when she retired.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred Sullivan . She was the sister of the late Mary Sullivan Moran, Francis and John Sullivan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 30 in Mount St. Rita Chapel. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
