Sister Rose Marie Ouellet, SUSC

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA — Holy Union Sister Rose Marie Ouellet, 95, a resident of Madonna Manor, died April 29 after a long illness.

She was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Numa and Marie (Lemay) Ouellet.

Sister Ouellet graduated from St. Joseph High School in Lawrence, and entered the Holy Union Sisters in Fall River, MA in 1931. She professed her first vows on March 25, 1933, and studied at the former Sacred Heart School of Education in Fall River and Catholic Teachers College, Providence. She received a bachelor’s degree in French from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA and a master’s degree in French from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA.

Sister Ouellet ministered as a teacher at St. Cecilia School and the former St. John School, both in Pawtucket, as well as in schools conducted by her religious community in Massachusetts. She also served as school secretary at St. Cecilia School before retiring in 1993. She subsequently moved to St. Mary Convent, North Attleboro, and moved to Madonna Manor in 1999 because of declining health.

She was the sister of the late Holy Union Sister Rose Therese Ouellet and the late Alcide Ouellet.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 2 at Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, North Attleboro.
