Sister Mary Margaret Yascolt O.C.D., 60

DECATUR, GA — Order of Discalced Carmelite Sister Mary Margaret Yascolt, 60, a resident of Reno, Nevada and former prioress of the Carmelite Monastery, Barrington, died October 19 at the DeKalb Medical Center.

Born in Midland, MI, she was the daughter of the late Cecil J. and Ilah M. (Goodfellow) Yascolt. She resided in the Carmelite Monastery in Reno for the past three years.

Sister Yascolt recently performed in a concert to benefit the Mount Carmel School in New Orleans, LA, to repair damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

She graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of arts degree in music, with a concentration in flute performance, and served as music director at St. Patrick School, Providence, for more than 10 years.

Sister Yascolt entered the Carmelite Order in January 1982. She professed solemn vows on February 3, 1988 and formerly served as prioress of the Barrington community.

She is by two brothers, Stephen and Paul Yascolt.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 25 in the Carmelite Monastery Chapel.
