NEWPORT – St. Joseph of Cluny Sister Gisele Menos died at Heatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sept. 10.
Born in Port -au- Prince, Haiti, Sister Menos entered religious life on March 17, 1951 and professed her first vows on Sept. 12, 1953. After teaching for 7 years in Haiti, Sister Menos was missioned to the Province of USA and Canada and served for 4 years in California, after which she served the people of Rhode Island for 47 years as a staff member of the Cluny School.
Sister Menos was predeceased by her parents, John and Nina Menos and her brother Gerard Menos.
She is survived by a sister, Myreille Bonnard; a brother, Robert Menos; many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 16 at St. Augustin Church, Newport.
Burial was in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
