CUMBERLAND — Mercy Sister, Sister Dorothy Ann Finnegan, 75, formerly Sister Mary Huberta, a retired caregiver and health coordinator, died April 23 at Mount St. Rita Health Centre.
Baptized Dorothy Ann?Finnegan in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Edna (McCrevy) Finnegan. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1955 and professed her vows on August 16, 1956. Sister was a nursing assistant in the various infirmaries of the Sisters of Mercy from1960 to 1977. In 1978 she became the health care coordinator at St. Martin de Porres Senior Center in Providence, a ministry in which she served for 30 years.
She is survived by seven sisters, Eileen Perriello of Johnston, Diane Leeder of Putnam, CT, Mary Korman and Sharon Metivier of North Attleboro,?MA, Kathleen Souza of Cranston, Edna LaPlante of Warwick and Judith Labbe of Cumberland; five brothers, Frederick Finnegan of Cranston, James Finnegan of Foster, Michael Finnegan of North Attleboro, MA, Kevin Finnegan of Warwick, and Joseph Finnegan of Hampden, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 27 in Mount St. Rita Chapel. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
