Showing Mercy through acts of service

Mercymount Country Day students in pre-K, kindergarten and grade 7 partnered to fill more than 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. These shoeboxes were filled with gifts to be opened by children in need around the world on Christmas Day. The students learned that, for many of these children, it is the only gift they will receive. These projects are among several service projects in which the children demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. Students also recently donated items to the Northern Rhode Island Food Pantry and a total of twelve Thanksgiving baskets shared with McAuley House, Saint Patrick Church of Providence, as well as local families in need. The treasurer of the Food Pantry, Chuck Marcotte, shared that his organization could not have served more than 350 families during this year’s recent distribution day without the help of students at Mercymount.
