On Saturday, May 14, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (OLMC), Bristol, commenced a new tradition by establishing the first annual OLMC Church Feast Chief Marshals and the Thomas Vendituoli, “Faith in Action,” Award Recipient’s reception held at The Aurora Civic Association in Providence. The event was attended by more than 40 former Chief Marshal’s and Faith in Action Award Winners, Vendituoli family members and many other family and friends. At the reception, two Perpetual Memorial Plaques commemorating the names of all Former Chief Marshals, since 1899, and the Thomas Vendituoli, Faith in Action Award Winners, since 2006, were unveiled. This year’s OLMC Church feast event marks the 119th consecutive celebration of honoring the Blessed Mother, and believed to be the longest continuous parish feast celebration within the Diocese of Providence. Significantly, this year at OLMC, also marks the 100th year of the founding of the parish, in 1917. With that, OLMC Church Trustees Elizabeth Vendituoli and Frank Vaccaro, honored the pastor, Father Henry Zinno, by naming him as this year’s Feast Celebration Chief Marshal. Additionally, Joshua Cordeiro was also named this year’s “Faith in Action” recipient award winner.
