Sharing Advent

Posted

St. Philomena School, Portsmouth, eighth grade students formed teams in their religion classes with teacher Daniel Baker and constructed Advent Chains for pupils in grades Pre-K to 5.

The teams presented a chain to each class and then explained to the students how they work. Every day for the remaining days of Advent a paper link can be broken. Written on the inside of each link is a reminder to observe Advent in a specific way that day. For instance, hold the door for someone who is behind you or pray and talk to Jesus today. The students in JoAnn Vanicek’s kindergarten class were thrilled with their chain and decided that they will make something special for their eighth grade team to show their gratitude.
