LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Saving souls should be the top priority of all faithful

TO THE EDITOR:

In responding to Father Brassard’s letter to the editor, “a Disappointing Pair of Editorials,” it seems Father Brassard is putting climate change, statements made by the “confusing” Amazon synod and not worshipping in the Extraordinary Form (EOF) as priorities of the faithful in today’s society. The hierarchy of the Catholic Church is obsessed with climate change and ecology instead of saving souls. The stewardship of “mother earth” should be left to politicians, while the discussion of closed issues, like the institution of ordaining married and female priests, which can never be, only confuses the flock.
The laity of the Church Militant must keep the sacraments, especially in this case Confirmation, by defending the faith and admonishing “untruths” when they are presented. While both the EOF and the Novus Ordo forms of the Mass are valid, why are attendees of the EOF “naïve”? I have never felt closer or more reverent to our Lord when receiving his body and blood on my knees and tongue.
I invite all to come to worship at Holy Name of Jesus or St. Mary’s church on a Sunday morning to experience the reverence to our Lord by the Extraordinary Form. I assure you it is not naïve! Dominus Vobiscum.
