Rita L. Zinno

NORTH SMITHFIELD — Rita L. Zinno (Moon), 89, of North Smithfield, died on October 5, 2016, at the St. Antoine’s Residence.

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry P. Zinno.

Born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Walter R. and Catherine (Redmond) Moon, she was a resident of North Smithfield for the past 13 years, previously residing in Greenville for two years and on Kentland Avenue, Providence for most of her life. Mrs. Zinno graduated from Central High School in Providence, and studied nursing at the Anna Jaques Hospital, School of Nursing in Newburyport, Mass. She was an LPN, working at the Miriam Hospital, Fatima Hospital and Roger Williams Hospital for many years before retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Providence and a former member and past recording secretary of the parish’s Rosary and Altar Society. She volunteered in Girl Scouts for many years and enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, traveling and ceramics.

She is survived by her children: a son, Rev. Henry P. Zinno Jr., pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol, two daughters, Joan Marie Gregory and her husband Rick of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Barbara Ann Keenan and her husband Paul of North Smithfield. She leaves nine grandchildren: Patrick, Daniel, Joseph, Peter, Mark and Kevin Keenan of North Smithfield; Laurie Marcotte Centauri of Tulsa, Okla.; Christopher Marcotte and Brian Gregory of Salt Lake City, Utah; and one great grandchild, Madeline Paige Marcotte of Salt Lake City. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Catherine, her brothers Lawrence (Buddy) and John Moon, and her sisters Bertha Arouth, Doris Pearson, Margaret (Peggy) Miller-Boutin, and Carolyn Rabbitt.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 11, with burial following in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
