Rev. Edward J. Marino, C.S.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Scalabrinian Father Edward J. Marino died Oct. 5 at Scalabrini Villa Nursing Home, where he was the administrator for many years.

Father Marino was born in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Victor E. and Julia R. (Lupia) Marino. He entered the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles, Scalabrinians, on September 8, 1950 and was ordained a priest on June 1, 1957. Father Marino was assigned to the Province of St. Charles Borromeo, based in New York, and performed pastoral ministry mostly in New England and New York. His first pastoral assignment was at Holy Ghost Church, Providence, where he served as assistant pastor for seven years, before being transferred to New York where he ministered in several apostolates. In 1988 Father Marino was appointed director of Scalabrini Villa Healthcare Center, where he became administrator in 1989.

A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Oct. 11 at Holy Ghost Church. Rev. Matthew Didone, C.S., provincial superior, was the main celebrant. Bishops Robert C. Evans, Louis E. Gelineau and Francis X. Roque concelebrated.

Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
