TO THE EDITOR:
Really Mr. Chafee? "Times are changing. We have to change with the times. And there are those who say the whole idea of Christmas is so removed from faith, it's not worth protecting anymore," Governor Chafee said Wednesday concerning his Holiday Tree situation.
I cannot believe that any elected official would utter such callous and thoughtless words! Who exactly is the "we" governor? And exactly who are "those" that you listen to? Certainly not the millions of Christians who celebrate the miracle of the Christmas Christ Child born into their hearts and renewed every Christmas! Governor Chafee's statement shows the utmost lack of respect and understanding for the Christian citizens of this beautiful State of Rhode Island. It really is shameful.
