Bishop Thomas J. Tobin recently conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Extraordinary Form on 23 teenagers and adults at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Providence. The celebration began with the entrance procession accompanied by the African Catholic Community Choir singing “Ecce Sacerdos Magnus” in polyphony for the bishop’s reception. The chants proper to the celebration were sung by the Schola Cantorum. The hymns during the anointing and for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament that followed were sung by the combined choirs and the congregation, which numbered about 300.
