PROVIDENCE — New presentations in the “Seek and Find” short video series will be available for viewing on the Diocese of Providence’s YouTube page beginning next week.
On Nov. 4, Father Patrick Mary Briscoe, O.P, will speak on the topic “How to Die as Christians,” while Father Jack Unsworth will address “Why Go to Mass?” on Nov. 18. On Dec. 2, Father Phillip Dufour will focus on “Distractions During Prayer.”
The short, biweekly video series, which is aimed at evangelizing to the local diocesan community and beyond, is produced by the Office of Communications. Videos typically run from three to five minutes in length.
When the series debuted last fall, Assistant Chancellor Father Nathan Ricci expressed hope that people would find inspiration from the videos as local priests, religious and lay people answer a variety of questions related to the Faith.
“Both Catholics and non-Catholics alike have deep and profound questions about the Catholic faith and our purpose in this world. We hope that in asking these deep questions during their faith journey this series will help them find the answers they seek. Every question of faith, of course, leads to the truth — Jesus Christ — who sets us free,” Father Ricci said.
Eve Sweeney, a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Wakefield, said she finds great value in the series, which she has been using to teach faith formation classes at her parish.
“The “Seek and Find” videos were a great help in providing a variety of content to my seventh grade religious ed classes,” Sweeney told Rhode Island Catholic.
“The students were able to watch the short talks given by priests from around the diocese which provided a basis for discussion afterwards.”
Sweeney said that her students were especially receptive to the messages offered by the young priests who presented, noting that the YouTube video format is so familiar with young people that the talks hold their attention.
