Seminarians from dioceses throughout New England returned to Our Lady of Providence Seminary on Wednesday, September 6, for the start of a new academic year. The 21 minor seminarians, including six from the Diocese of Providence, will study at Providence College before graduating to major seminary.
Father David Gaffney was also installed as rector of Our Lady of Providence Seminary by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin during Wednesday’s opening Mass. Father Gaffney, who previously served as director of spiritual formation at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, returned earlier this year from Rome, where he served as spiritual director at the Pontifical North American College.
