LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Lumen Gentium a shining light for the less fortunate

TO THE EDITOR:

On behalf of the Lumen Gentium Awards dinner committee, I would like to thank Rhode Island Catholic for their coverage (Awarded for their Faith, May 23) of the first annual dinner in recognition of those who serve their parish and community.

For purposes of clarification, the award given to the recipients is in the shape of a flame with the amber enclosure representing the flame of the Holy Spirit, or, ‘Lumen Gentium,’ light of the nations.

Thank you again for your coverage of this special evening which also raised significant funds that enabled the Diocesan winter homeless shelter Emmanuel House to remain open during the summer months.

Mary Ann Altrui

Member of the Lumen Gentium Awards Dinner Committee
