The largest abortion business in the world, Planned Parenthood, opposes sex-selection abortion. However, while it opposes the reprehensible practice of killing an unborn child simply based upon the child's gender, Planned Parenthood doesn't believe the evil practice should be banned or stopped according to Chole Cooney, director of global advocacy at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
The anti-life votes of Rhode Island's two congressmen, James Langevin and David Cicilline, send a message that they apparently share Planned Parenthood's illogical position and do not believe sex-selection abortion is worthy of a ban either. Their votes against the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) allows for abortions motivated by the gender of the unborn child. The measure failed to gain a needed two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives on May 31.
In addition to banning sex-selection abortions, PRENDA would have prohibited the coercion of abortions based on gender, the solicitation or acceptance of funds for such abortions and the transportation of a woman into the U.S. to obtain such an abortion.
The co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus Rep. Chris Smith, (R-N.J.) stated that sex-selection abortion "is cruel, it's discriminatory and it's legal. It is violence against women. Most people in government are unaware that it is part of a deliberate plan of population control. This is a real war on women." In the war against women both Representatives Langevin and Cicilline shamefully displayed their disregard for women as well as their moral blindness to the reality of sex-selection abortion. By their appalling vote against PRENDA they have advanced a real war on women in our world by ensuring that sex-selection abortion continues to cause even more casualties.
