Jubilarians celebrate many years of service

The Sisters of Mercy – Northeast Community congratulated twenty-three sisters in Rhode Island who are celebrating Jubilee anniversaries this fall, and who collectively have provided 1,595 years of service to the Ocean State and beyond. A special liturgy at the St. Mary Academy – Bay View Chapel in Riverside honored the Jubilarian sisters on September 23. Following Mass, a celebratory luncheon took place at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford. These Jubilarians work, volunteer, pray for people in need, and advocate for social justice. Their advocacy work includes participating in rallies and vigils, working for change on behalf of women, the climate, and immigrants, and seeking an end to racism and violence. Sisters marking special anniversaries include: 75th Jubilarians: Sister M. Jessica Aguiar, Sister Michaela DeLoia, Sister Virginia Sweeney, Sister Marie Antonia Tognetti; 70th Jubilarians: Sister Zita Foley, Sister Marie Lorraine Halpin, Sister Hope Hughes, Sister Barbara Hunt, Sister Jamesita Lavery, Sister Carlene O’Donnell, Sister Mary Reilly; 65th Jubilarians: Sister Carol Ann Aldrich, Sister Francelle Dame, Sister Marie Bernadetta Ryan, Sister Winifred Sandwell; 60th Jubilarians: Sister Ann Marie Coleman, Sister Catherine Janes, Sister Rosemary Laliberte, Sister Christina Martin, Sister Marypatricia Murphy and Sister Rosemarie O’Brien.
