Joseph N. Iacovacci

EAST PROVIDENCE — Joseph N. Iacovacci, 91, died on Wednesday, October 9, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Regina E. (Incollingo) Iacovacci. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Nicola and Rose (Regoli) Iacovacci.

Iacovacci was a controller for Royal Diversified Products from 1980 until his retirement in 1988. Prior to that he was a business manager for Channel 6/WLNE from 1962 to 1980 and Office Manager for WPRI TV-WPRO Radio from 1957 to 1961. He was past President of the Institute of Management Accountants and a member of the Board of Directors for New Bedford Area Center for Human Services, Junior Achievement of Greater New Bedford and Providence Chapter, National Association of Accountants. He was a member of the Providence Chapter National Office Managers Association and the Rhode Island Credit Managers Association. He also did volunteer work as a Tax-Aide Counselor for the elderly.

He graduated from Bryant College with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He served in the Navy for 39 months during World War II.

Iacovacci was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received while aboard the USS KIDD in action off Okinawa in April 1945. He and his shipmates earned eight Battle Stars for action in the Asiatic Pacific Area and for the Philippine Island Liberation. Along with his wife, he leaves one brother, Msgr. Nicholas Iacovacci of Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday at St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial with Military Honors was held in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
