Bishop Thomas J. Tobin installed Father Ryan J. Simas as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Woonsocket on Sunday, Sept. 22. In his homily, Bishop Tobin congratulated Father Simas on his new assignment and asked for God’s blessing upon the whole parish community. “I extend my sincere congratulations to Father Simas and my gratitude for his willingness to accept a new and very challenging assignment,” Bishop Tobin said. “He begins today writing a new chapter in his priestly life and ministry, so we’re very grateful to him and we’re very proud of him and pray that God will bless him abundantly now and in the days and years to come. I know that he’s very pleased to be here and welcomes the opportunity to be your pastor and spiritual guide. We pray that God will bless him and your whole parish community and that you will always work well together to proclaim the Gospel and proclaim God’s kingdom in our midst.” Father Simas also serves as chaplain at St. Raphael Academy. He formerly served as assistant pastor at St. Philip Parish, Greenville.
