To the Editor:
It is my opinion and the opinion of all my Catholic family that the Most Reverend Tobin should focus his energy on helping the illegal community return to their country of origin and begin the process there to come to this country the legal way, like many before them. He is asking for law enforcement people to ignore our laws. They are there for a reason.
His concern for families being split up is admirable; however, we teach our children that there are consequences for their actions. We tell them to think before they act-they may not be happy with the consequences. The consequence of coming into a foreign country illegally is deportation. They were not brought here against their wishes, it is a conscious decision to enter this country illegally. It is a huge chance they knowingly take. One of God's greatest gifts is free will – remember Eve.
