The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul hosted its annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, October 15, bringing together more than 200 married couples from parishes across the state. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, who blessed them, was the main celebrant in the ceremony, which commemorated anniversaries ranging from 25 to 75 years.

The bishop spoke in his homily of a reflection on marriage by Pope Francis in which the pontiff said that marriage was “craftwork, like a goldsmith’s work” that must be continually refined and labored on over time to turn it into something beautiful.

“All of you here celebrating your milestone anniversaries understand the importance of patience and sustained effort throughout the length of a marriage,” Bishop Tobin said.
