The three-day event, which carried added significance in the Year of Faith, in which Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI called for Catholics to renew their spiritual bonds, was held at the Dunkin Donuts Center and featured music and speakers giving witness to their faith in Creole and French. Among those taking part in the event was Father Jacques-Eddy Chavannes, a native of Haiti and assistant pastor at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Providence, where he ministers to members of the Haitian community. He concelebrated a Mass led by event organizer Msgr. Joseph Malagreca of New York, and is pictured offering holy Communion to some of the 3,000 faithful in attendance.
