On Nov. 19, The Prout School also delivered 1,100 pounds of food to the Jonnycake Center in Wakefield. Over the course of a few weeks, students, faculty and staff filled 30 Thanksgiving baskets and an additional five boxes of food for the center. Several gift cards, a turkey voucher and cash were donated as well. The food will be distributed by the Jonnycake Center to local families in need during this holiday season. The collection was organized by the students on Prout’s Student Council.

During the month of October, students from The Prout School, in Wakefield, planned a schoolwide event and gathered over 1,500 pairs of socks for the homeless. The socks were distributed to multiple homeless shelters in South County: Lucy’s Hearth in Middletown, Warm Shelter in Westerly and the Jonnycake Center in Peacedale. The collection was organized by students in the Social Justice class.
