Grateful for the gift of the priesthood

On Sunday, Sept. 8, Holy Apostles Church community gathered to celebrate Msgr. Albert Kenney’s 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin and Bishop Robert J. McManus, bishop of Worcester, brother priests, family and friends filled the Cranston parish to offer their support and prayerful congratulations to Msgr. Kenney, who serves as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Providence.

Msgr. Kenney extended his sincere gratitude to all those who those in attendance.

“I thank God for the many blessings of my life and for the gift of the priesthood and for serving God’s people for these past 25 years…It is a joy to be with you on this day.”

In his homily, Father James Sullivan, OP, gave thanks to God for the great gift of the priesthood.

“We know that the Eucharist itself is the reason why a priest lives everyday his own life and every Sunday for each of ours. We come to a priest over and over again to be healed, to be comforted, to be taught, to be strengthened and we thank the Lord for the graces that he has worked through Msgr. Kenney’s priesthood.”
