Francis T. Iwuc, 89

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Francis T. Iwuc, 89, died May 23 on Merritt Island. He was the husband of Eleanor Iwuc, and the brother of Rev. Canon Anthony D. Iwuc, pastor emeritus of St. Joseph Church, Central Falls.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Bronislaw and Adolfina (Zamoida) Iwuc. He was a 1936 graduate of St. Joseph School and 1939 graduate of Attleboro High School in Massachusetts. He then enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps., and then served during World War II in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the General Electric space program at Cape Canaveral, FL., Cheyenne, Wyo., Spokane, Wash., Roswell, N.M. and Vandenburg A.F.B., Calif.

He was an active member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Community, and a lifelong member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America. In addition to his wife and Father Iwuc, two sons, Francis T. and Michael Iwuc; two stepdaughters, Carol Tosto and Patty Warner; a sister, Stella Rarus; and two brothers survive him, Charles of South Attleboro, Mass., and Stephen of Cumberland. He was also the husband of the late Stasia (Ladysz) Iwuc, and brother of the late Lottie Byrnes, Jane Zielinski, Jessie Jendzejec, Joseph and Edward Iwuc.

A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated May 28 at Divine Mercy Church, Merritt Island. Burial was in Rockledge, Fla.
