WAKEFIELD — Four students of The Prout School were among those musicians and singers selected for participation in All-State ensembles by the Rhode Island Music Education, Brooke Daigle, Portsmouth, Senior All-State Mixed Chorus, Vocal – Soprano; Ella Philippi, Kingston, Senior All-State Mixed Chorus, Vocal – Alto; Victoria Thurley, North Smithfield, Senior All-State Band, Clarinet; Thomas Vrankar, Narragansett, Senior All-State Orchestra, Violin.
These students, along with other students across Rhode Island, auditioned in front of a panel of judges — all professional musicians — on November 17 at Moses Brown School in Providence.
Ranked first in the state after the RIMEA auditions, Thomas Vrankar has the added honor of being named “concertmaster” of the Senior All-State Orchestra, a title given to the highest-ranked violin player in the orchestra. The distinction is particularly impressive as Thomas is just a sophomore.
Hanna Bove, a 2018 graduate of The Prout School, held the position of concertmaster for the Senior All-State Orchestra during her sophomore and senior years at Prout. Hanna is currently a student at the Eastman School of Music and plays violin in the University of Rochester’s orchestra.
The Rhode Island Music Education Association, founded in 1915, is a federated state association of the National Association for Musical Education. RIMEA is a non-profit organization that plays a significant role in representing all phases of music education in the schools, colleges, and universities within the state of Rhode Island.
