Feast of Epiphany at St. Adalbert Church

Posted

On the feast of Epiphany students of the Religious Education Program of St. Adalbert Parish, Providence formed the Entrance Procession to lead in the Three Kings, bearing gifts. Natalia Szpala, Grade 7 student, was the star bearer. Casper (Elizah Moyet – Grade 8), Melchior (Jack Duggan – Grade 6) and Balthazar (Nino Maracco – Grade 6) carried gold boxes filled with coin-size envelopes – each holding a small piece of white chalk and grains of incense. Fr. Marek Kupka, pastor proceeded to bless the chalk and incense, which would be taken home by parishioners. According to Church custom, the family, using the annually blessed chalk, marks the doors of their home with C+M+B 2019 – indicating to all who enter that followers of Jesus Christ live in their home. Olivia Kania, Grade 6 student musician, accompanied Henry Kozlowski, parish organist on the flute and saxophone – as parishioners and students sang seasonal hymns in Polish and English. After the reception of Holy Communion, students in Grades 1 and 2, led by teacher, Sister Mary Bernice Pikul, CSSF, sang a birthday song to Jesus in the manger.
