Bishop Thomas J. Tobin installs Father Stephan A. Silipigni as pastor of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Little Compton and St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Tiverton during the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, September 17 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church. “The installation of a new pastor, a new shepherd is a very significant moment for the priest himself, and for your parish communities,” Bishop Tobin said in offering his very best prayers and wishes to Father Silipigni as the pastor begins writing a new chapter in his priestly life and ministry. “We pray that God will walk with him and be with him and bless his ministry among you for many days and years to come.” Ordained in 1981 by Bishop Louis E. Gelineau, Father Silipigni served first as assistant pastor at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Johnston before serving as assistant pastor at St. Anthony Parish, Providence; St. Margaret parish, Rumford; and SS. John & Paul Parish, Coventry. In June, 1997 he was installed as pastor of Mary, Mother of Mankind Parish in North Providence, leading the congregation there until January, 2003.
