Father Raymond McNicholas, SSC, 85

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. — Columban Father Raymond McNicholas, 85, a former resident of St. Columban’s Retirement House, Bristol for many years, died Sept. 21 after a long illness.

Born in Chicago, Father McNicholas served in the Columban Fathers missions in the Philippines, California, New York and the Virgin Islands, before coming to Bristol in 1978. He served three terms as superior of the retirement home and also ministered as chaplain at Salve Regina University, Newport for more than 15 years. In 1994 he was assigned to St. Bernadette Church, Buffalo, N.Y., where he served until he retired last year.

A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Sept. 25 in Buffalo.
