“It’s a very special moment for Father Marciano, for the school and for our whole diocesan family,” said Bishop Tobin. “Tonight we come together to thank and praise God for all of the gifts and blessing he gives us all the time. We pray that he will give us the grace we need always to work well together to preach the Gospel and build God’s kingdom on earth.”
Father Marciano shared with Bishop Tobin, his brother priests and all those in attendance that he was truly humbled and grateful, promising that he work together with everyone to continue to make the entire diocese proud of Bishop Hendricken.
“My dear friends, tonight at this Mass of Inauguration we come to this sacred and special place that groomed generations of priests for our diocese, to formally begin a new chapter in the mission that is ours at Bishop Hendricken,” Father Marciano said. “In a very real sense, to use our gifts and talents to show the face of God to young men that come to us. Who sit in our classrooms, walk our halls, perform terrific artistic and musical fetes, compete in our sports programs, but most especially to meet God through us and live a life of service and knowledge. Hendricken is a very special place.”
Father Marciano assumed his new position on January 1, 2019, taking over for John A. Jackson who retired after 46 years at Bishop Hendricken High School, the last 8 of which he served as president. Father Marciano will continue in his role as pastor of St. Kevin Church and School, Warwick and as administrator of St. Benedict Parish, Warwick.
In his role as president, he will lead the entire school community in promoting and advancing its mission, ministry, vision, philosophy, Roman Catholic faith and spirituality of Blessed Edmund Rice. He is also responsible for strategic planning, institutional advancement, and financial stewardship.
Father Marciano, a 1975 graduate of Bishop Hendricken, also serves as chaplain and a team member of the Campus Ministry at Bryant University, chaplain of the Warwick Fire Department and served as a chaplain in the Rhode Island Air National Guard from 1994-2016.
