Father Joseph L. Crehan

BRISTOL — Columban Father Joseph L. Crehan, 78, of the Columban Fathers Retirement Home, Bristol Ferry Road, died April 1 at Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Dorchester, MA, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Curry) Crehan.

He entered the Columban Fathers in 1954. After being ordained, Father Crehan served as a missionary in Japan until 1970, when he was reassigned to serve as Bursar and Dean of the Columban Major Seminary, Milton, MA.

He was assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish, Everett, MA in 1979, and moved to the Columban Fathers Retirement Center in 2000.

Father Crehan is survived by a brother, William of Raynham, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held April 5 in St. Columban Chapel, Bristol. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Bristol.
