PAWTUCKET – Ernest J. Brassard, 83, the father of Father Ronald E. Brassard, pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Cranston, died January 17 at home. He was the husband of the late Cecile (Gousie) Brassard.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Remi and Ombeline (Croteau) Brassard. He lived in Central Falls for 40 years, and was employed by Corning Glass and later by GTE Glassworks for more than 38 years. He retired in 1986, and also served on the executive committee in the Mix and Melt Department.
He was a Navy veteran and served during World War II on the U.S.S. Baltimore.
In addition to Father Brassard, he is survived by two brothers, Emile Brassard of Central Falls and Arthur Brassard of Lincoln, and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Shirley Glod, and brother of the late Henry and Vincent Brassard.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated January 21 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
