TO THE EDITOR:
The Professional Golf Association requires its members to wear collared shirts and pants (as in, not shorts) on the professional tour on Sundays.
Since the current Sunday Catholic Mass begs description - athletic shorts, t-shirts hanging out of pants, short pants and filthy jeans on adult men and women - might not a similar salutary rule (spoken or at least unspoken) be in order for the holy day of worship in parishes?
The casualness is acutely revealing.
