TO THE EDITOR:
Politicians are not the answer to ending abortion.
Some of them will pander to the religious community just to secure your vote, after which it becomes a non-issue until the next election. Others will affirm that the Supreme Court has already decided this matter and that they stand by that decision even though they personally hate abortion.
Reverence for life in all its stages will only be achieved by the intervention of God through our prayers. When we ask him to dispense his graces on those mothers contemplating an abortion and help change their hearts and minds, miracles will happen one at a time.
Instead of demanding a litmus test on Supreme Court justice appointments, as a Christian community may we pray that our Lord help open their eyes to the fact that our laws need to be revised to protect the unborn too.
The final answer to abortion is not achieved at the voting booth, but by our fervent and faithful prayer that Jesus comfort and guide every mother that may be considering one.
