Father Gabriel O’Donnell, O.P., of the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., presents a lecture on “Patience and Purification: The Priest and the Suffering Christian,” in the McVinney Auditorium during the sixth annual Conference for Priests.

The event, which was held August 1-3 and co-hosted this year by the Diocese of Providence and the Thomistic Institute in Washington, D.C., drew 80 priests from around the country who came to explore the topic “Pastoral Care of the Sick and Dying.”

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin celebrated Mass for the gathering at the cathedral on Aug. 2. Other speakers included Father Romanus Cessario, O.P., and Msgr. James Moroney, rector of St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.
