ROME — On Saturday, April 3, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, celebrated the Easter Vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Ryan Connors, a seminarian of the Diocese of Providence, was selected to serve as a lector. Connors is currently in his second year of formation at the Pontifical North American College.

Founded in 1859, the College serves as the American house of studies in Rome, where hundreds of priests have been formed near the heart of the church for service in dioceses around the United States and Australia.

The College strengthens the bonds between Rome and local churches worldwide, providing its students the opportunity to study Christianity’s rich religious and cultural heritage at close range.
