Deacon Thomas J. Lennon, 85

CRANSTON —Deacon Thomas J. Lennon, 85, of Wildwood Drive, died Jan. 15 at home. He was the husband of the late Florence M. (Sheehan) Lennon.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Marguerite M. (Sullivan) Lennon. He was employed as a science teacher by the Cranston School Dept. for 38 years, and was ordained to the diaconate in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and received a Purple Heart.

Deacon Lennon was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at Travelers Aid and the Cranston Senior Center, and was very active in the Casa Program. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He is survived by two daughters, Christine L. Foster and Carole E. Pebbles.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 19 in St. Benedict Church, Warwick. Entombment was in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
