Deacon Richard B. Keogh, 75

KINGSTON — Deacon Richard B. Keogh, 75, died April 19. He was the husband of Carol (Radcliffe) Keogh and ministered at Christ the King Church, South Kingstown.

Born in Mapleville, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Libbie M. (Jarvis) Keogh.

Deacon Keogh was a graduate of La Salle Academy, Providence, and earned a degree in business administration from Bryant University. He taught data processing at Chariho Regional High School, Wood River Junction, for 22 years, before retiring in 1990. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was ordained to the diaconate in 1979. He first ministered at the Institute of Mental Health, Cranston, and performed nursing home ministry at South Bay Manor, South Kingstown. He also served as a sponsor in the RCIA program at Christ the King Church and as an instructor at the former Our Lady of Peace Center in Narragansett.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mary K. Donilon of Riverside, Lisa Rae of Exeter, Moira K. McDonnell of Warwick; a son, James E. Keogh of Worcester, MA; two sisters, Lila M. Keogh and Janice Zangari, both of Smithfield; two brothers, Thomas Keogh of Pittsburgh, PA and F. Patrick Keogh of Johnston; and eight grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 24 at Christ the King Church. Burial was in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
