Deacon Raymond M. Lagesse, 82

Deacon Raymond M. Lagesse, 82, of Marshall Avenue, Cumberland, died March 3 his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Joyce (Palardy) Lagesse and the late Blanche (Nadeau) Lagesse.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Alfred and Diana (Camire) Lagesse. He was a Pawtucket resident most of his life. Deacon Lagesse owned and operated Morris Machine of Cumberland for 32 years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.

Deacon Lagesse was ordained on June 17, 1977 and had served at St. John the Baptist Church for thirty three years until his passing.

Survivors besides his wife are six sons; Steven Lagesse of Pawtucket, Roger Lagesse of Hampton, VA, David Lagesse of Santa Paula, CA, Alfred Lagesse of Woonsocket, G. Raymond Lagesse of Johnston, and Gerald Lagesse of Pascoag; three daughters, Marian Sleczkowski of Pittsburgh, PA, Laureen Gosselin of Pawtucket and Diana Lagesse of Warwick; he was the father of the late Raymond M. Lagesse, Jr.; he leaves one step son Joseph Palardy of Jacksonville, FL; three step daughters, Dawn Aust of North Scituate, Darlene Brillon and Sheila Charpentier both of Pawtucket; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 8 at St. John the Baptist Church, Pawtucket. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket.
