Dante Menna, 88

CRANSTON – Dante Menna, 88, the husband of Gilda A. (Caranci) Menna and father of Father Michael Menna, pastor of St. Ann Church, Providence, died Aug. 26.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giovanni and America (Menna) Menna.

He was an automotive technician and instructor in the auto industry for many years before retiring. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

In addition to his wife and Father Menna, he is survived by another son, Dr. John D. Menna of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Joan G. DeCubellis and Maria G. Menna, both of Cranston; and three grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Elio Menna, Grace Menna and Virginia Abbruzese.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 1 at St. Bartholomew Church, Providence. Burial with military honors was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
