Celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception

On December 8, 550 students representing eight Catholic schools gathered at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul and the diocese’s newly renovated McVinney Auditorium to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Following Mass, the students – more than half of whom had never visited the cathedral before – gathered downstairs for a pizza lunch in the Cathedral Hall. The group then transitioned over to nearby McVinney Auditorium, where Father Timothy D. Reilly, chancellor of the Diocese of Providence, offered a brief explanation of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The students then viewed a presentation of the movie “St. Bernadette of Lourdes,” which represented the inaugural motion picture event for McVinney Auditorium.
