Brother A. Jerome Corrigan

OAKDALE, N.Y. — Christian Brother A. Jerome Corrigan, 75, of the Christian Brothers Community, Oakdale, N.Y., died November 27 in his community in Oakdale.

Born in Southhampton, NY, he was the son of the late James and Margaret (Sherry) Corrigan. He was the brother of the late Margaret Coombs.

He entered the Brothers of the Christian Schools at Barrytown, N.Y. in 1949 and received the habit in September of that year. He pronounced his final vows in 1958 in Barrytown.

Brother Corrigan received a bachelor of science degree from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1954 and a master’s degree from Manhattan College in 1961.

He began his teaching career at St. Bernard School in New York in 1954. He also taught at several schools in the N.Y. area. His other assignments were at St. Raphael Academy, Pawtucket, where he was the Director, Teacher and Principal from 1963-1979; La Salle Academy, Providence, where he served as Financial Administrator, Principal and President from 1979-1998; and La Salle Center, Oakdale, where he was President and Chief Executive Officer from 1999-2002..

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 1, 2007 at Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett. Burial will be in the Brothers’ Cemetery at the Center.
