Discussing V Encuentro: Bishop Thomas J. Tobin speaks at the chancery with diocesan directors of Hispanic Ministry and members of the Regional Team from seven New England dioceses about the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming V National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry. The meeting was hosted by the Multicultural Ministry of the Diocese of Providence on April 14. The V Encuentro is a four-year process of ecclesial reflection and action that invites all Catholics in the United States to intense missionary activity, consultation, leadership development, and identification of best ministerial practices in the spirit of the New Evangelization. Bishop Tobin recently appointed a Diocesan Team with representatives from parishes, ecclesial movements, Marian groups, youth and young adults, to facilitate the process and help train Parish Teams. From January to June of 2017 it is expected that parishes with Spanish speaking communities will conduct a 5 week consultation ending with a Parish Encuentro (Gathering) leading to Diocesan , Regional and National Gatherings.
