Maryhouse seeks food donations

PROVIDENCE — Maryhouse, the food pantry sponsored by St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., is seeking donations of ziti and elbow macaroni, small bags of rice, small jars of mayonnaise, and canned goods such as vegetables and soup. For more information, call 274-6286.

St. Pius celebrates Feast of St. Dominic

PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V Church, 55 Elmhurst Ave., will celebrate the Feast of St. Dominic, Aug. 8, Mass, 10 a.m. The homilist will be Franciscan Father Charles Francis O’Connor, assistant pastor of St. Mary Church and St. Francis Chapel, Providence. The event continues the long tradition of friendship between the Dominicans and Franciscans, dating from the time of the founders of both religious orders. For more information, call 751-4871.

Jesus Saviour sets summer bazaar

NEWPORT — Jesus Saviour Church, One Vernon Ave., will host its annual summer bazaar, July 29-31, 7-11 p.m., on the church grounds. The event will include bingo, pull-tabs, games, children’s activities and several raffles. The kitchen will offer homemade malassadas, fava, chourico sandwiches and homemade pastries. St. Mary hosts tent revival

CHARLESTOWN — St. Mary Church will host its second annual tent revival, July 26-28, 6-8 p.m., on the grounds of St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road. The revival will be lead by Father Bill Halbring of Newark, N.J., a well-known speaker at charismatic conferences whose talks focus on the Holy Spirit. Music will be provided by Grammy-nominee Marty Rotella. A healing Mass will be celebrated on July 28. In case of inclement weather, the revival will he held in the chapel. St. Philip Church hosts ‘Marian Evening’

GREENVILLE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry will sponsor “A Marian Evening,” Aug. 2, 8 p.m., at St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike. The event will include a holy hour, and an orientation to prepare for total consecration to Jesus according to St. Louis de Montfort. The 33 day preparation will conclude with a consecration ceremony on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sept. 8 at the parish. Sodality sponsors Day of Recollection

JOHNSTON — The St. Anne’s Sodality of Our Lady of Grace Church, 4 Lafayette St., will sponsor a Day of Recollection, July 27 at the Sacred Heart Retreat House, Wareham, Mass. The bus will depart from the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 4 p.m. The program will include Mass celebrated by Msgr. Carlo Montecalvo, two talks and lunch. St. Martin de Porres Center plans food festival

PROVIDENCE — St. Martin de Porres Center, 160 Cranston St., will host a food festival, July 27, beginning at 10 a.m. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications will be available; blood pressure screenings will begin at 10:10 a.m.; a lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and guests will be allowed to use their SNAP cards to pay for the meal donation; a farmer’s market will open at 1 p. m., vouchers will be provided.
