NORTH?PROVIDENCE — Angelo Spina, 88, of Cranston, died Feb. 3 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence.
He was the husband of the late Gilda (Petrucci) Spina, and father of Father Douglas J. Spina, pastor of St. Martha Church, East Providence.
He was born in Providence, and was the son of the late Lorenzo and Filomena (Seria) Spina. Before retiring, he was employed as a supervisor at Brown and Sharpe Mfg., and served in the Army-Air Corps during World War II.
For many years, he volunteered in many parish projects and activities at St. Rocco Church, Johnston; St. Anthony Church, Woonsocket; Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston; and most recently at St. Martha Church.
In addition to Father Spina, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra A. Curran of North Kingstown; two sisters, Anna Lombardi of Warwick and Rita Beaune of Cranston; three brothers, Anthony Spina of Warwick, Alfred Spina of Johnston and Louis Spina of Providence. He was the brother of the late Josephine Santopadre.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 5 at St. Martha Church. Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
