Joseph T. Sepe, a parishioner at St. Jude’s Parish in Lincoln, as well as a student at Bryant University, shows Bishop Thomas J. Tobin the zucchetto that he received from Pope Francis during a chance visit with the pontiff on the streets of Rome while Sepe was participating in a study abroad over the summer.
Feeling fortunate to be seated only feet away from Pope Francis during a papal audience one Sunday, Sepe had another opportunity to see the church leader a week later, when he visited the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome where Sepe was staying. “Not only did I get to see him on that Sunday, but I was even able to trade zucchettos with him,” said Sepe.
