Year with Mary Our Mother

A great witness of faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother

In observance of Bishop Thomas J. Tobin’s “Year with Mary Our Mother,” a Public Square Rosary event was on held on Sunday, April 2, in Riverside. Many gathered on the Sunday afternoon to pray 15 decades of the Rosary in honor of the diocesan Year with Mary, including members of the Legion of Mary, the Knights of Columbus and parishioners from all over the diocese.

Prayers were recited outside while everyone gathered around a statue of our Blessed Mother while holding a 100-foot handmade rosary that was made in the 1970’s and was blessed by the late Father Patrick Peyton, an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman known worldwide as The Rosary Priest, and founder of the Family Rosary Crusade.

The rosary has been present at many prayer rallies over the years. The next Public Square Rosary Event will be held on June 11 in Riverside, and in October at St. Timothy Church in Warwick.
